Muzikotek attended the ICMP (International Confederation of Muslic Publishers) meetings which were held this year in the Greek capital, Athens. The series of meetings enabled the music publishers from all around the world to meet up, network and socialize. The problems in the industry have been discussed and solutions for the future have been proposed.
The conference had a record breakingly high attendance, but this year it was Turkey that had the highest number of participants from one country. Among the Turkish delegation, there were representatives from Pelikan, Median, Universal and Fix Muzik. Our president Dağhan Baydur was companied by our team members Barış Cebiroğlu, Hande Allovi and Sara Baydur.
Our president Dağhan Baydur presented a couple of concerns to the ICMP members during his speech on the last day of the meetings. He expressed his concern about the potential negative impacts of focusing on only non-music related subjects at these meetings and that the music part should really be the starting point of these discussions. He also commented along the lines of;
"We cannot survive on our back catalogues alone. We ought to start off with intentions of making good music and creating extraordinary songs like the ones we have done and which we keep licensing away. Thus, our prior mission should always be stressing the importance of good music and giving guidance and support to the composers"
In order to make sure we weren't left out the Muzikotek team sent us a photo taken in front of The Temple of Zeus along with Filiz Saral (Fix Muzik).
The ICMP conference was concluded with the wonderful news that next year the conference will be held in Turkey.
